Got Oily Skin? Use This Avocado and Egg Face Mask Recipe

If your face shines with a thin layer of grease at the end of the day, then you can be sure you’ve got oily skin.

The production of oil in the body, specifically in the skin, is due to the sebaceous glands located deep under the dermis.

Under normal conditions, its primary role is to lubricate the skin and hair and protect them from environmental hazards.  But because of genetic make-up, some individuals have sebaceous glands that work overtime – thus, the oily skin.

Aside from looking greasy, too much sebum on the skin can make your face look puffy, it can block your pores and play a part in acne flare-ups.

To control oily skin, you can use skin care products specifically intended for people with this skin type.  But if you’re not much comfortable using something that has chemicals in it, you can opt for natural homemade cures like avocado and egg whites.

These two natural ingredients are not just for eating, but it can also be applied topically to benefit from the vitamins and nutrients it contains.

To make an avocado and egg face mask, you will need to have ripe avocados, egg whites and 1 tsp. of lemon juice.  Then, you can follow these simple steps:

  1. Scoop the flesh out and puree the avocado in a blender.
  2. Add one egg white.
  3. Add 1tsp of lemon juice.
  4. Blend until smooth.
  5. Spread the mixture on face and neck.  Make sure you’re face has been washed and clean before applying the face mask.
  6. Leave it on for 15 to 20 minutes so your skin will have enough time to absorb the nutrients.
  7. With a warm washcloth, wipe the mask from face.
  8. Rinse with cold water to close the pores.

The potassium, chlorophyll and sulfur in avocados will help clarify your complexion.  The egg whites will draw out the oil from your face and will tighten it.  It will also reduce puffiness under your eyes and make your pores smaller.  The lemon will clean and whiten the darkened areas of your skin.
