Avocado: A Simple and Inexpensive Hair Conditioner

You don’t have to spend a lot on your hair to make it look great.  You can make your own simple, inexpensive homemade hair conditioner which can make your mane look and feel fabulous.

Have you ever noticed some bottled conditioners saying “natural avocado extracts”?  It’s because the avocado is an excellent hair and skin moisturizer.

The avocado is rich with essential nutrients, proteins and vitamins such as Vitamin E and other B-vitamins that promote good health, not just for the body, but also for the hair.

Several popular homemade avocado hair conditioners include olive oil, coconut extracts and other natural ingredients.

But preparing a hair recipe using just plain avocado is just as good.  It has the same effect, but cheaper.

Here’s what you should do:

  • When buying avocados for your hair, choose the ones that are soft and squishy.  Remember, you are not going to eat them.  Soft avocados, though inedible, will produce a consistently creamy texture when mashed.
  • Scoop the flesh out from the skin and beat until it becomes creamy and frothy.
  • Apply it on your scalp going down towards the tip of your hair.
  • You can massage your scalp for a few minutes before wrapping your hair with a plastic cap for about 30 minutes.
  • Rinse.

This concoction will add moisture, elasticity, shine and body to your hair that you will readily feel after using it.
